Calgary motorhome dealer, Guarantee RV, is pleased to provide tips on winter storage for your RV or motorhome.  Being in the geoegraphic area that we are, the team at Guarantee RV understand the importance of winter storage for your RV. Here are some quick tips that you may want to consider.

  • If possible, park your RV or motorhome in a heated garage or storage area.  If you do not have access to such a storage facility consider purchasing tarps to help shield your RV from the elements
  • Park your RV on a level surface.  Cement pads are usualy the best surface to park on.
  • Disconnect the batteries (as some appliances draw electricity even when not in use)
  • Unplug all appliances (Be sure to consult your owner's manual when disconnecting and appliances or water lines)
  • Drain all water lines and water systems including any holding tanks and the water heater
  • Lubricate any moving pieces such as hinges or other mechanical parts of the RV
  • Before storing for the winter clean the interior of your RV
  • Remove everything from the refrigerator and turn off the refrigerator
  • Clean the refrigerator and leave the refrigerator door open
  • Service your RV or motorhome with an oil change prior to storage
  • Clean the exterior of the RV
  • Check the tire pressure, fill the tires to full while being stored.
  • Make a point to start your motorhome each month as it is being stored. This will allow for circulation of the engine fluids as well as testing of the battery
