  Stabilizing and Leveling RVs

So you've reached your destination and are ready to park your RV or motorhome.  As you have probably expereienced, your RV site may not always be level. Guarantee RV brings you tips for stablizing and leveling your RV.  Depending on the type of RV that you have, the following tips may or may not be applicable.

  • Carry "leveling blocks" with your RV.  These leveling blocks could be as simple as pieces of 2X4 or 2X6.  Some trailers and fifth wheels have built in leveling jacks that you can use to stablize your RV.  Use your "leveling blocks" to place under the leveling jacks for a solid, flat surface mount.
  • If your RV unit does not come equipped with leveling or stablizing jacks you can purchase a set.  There are telescopic stablizing jacks available for less than $100.
  • You can also purchase plastic leveling blocks as they are lighter and easier to transports than a wooden block.
  • Consider purchasing wheel jacks for leveling your RV.
  • If you are going to be parked in the same spot for an extended period of time, you may want to consider purchasing some jack stands to place under the frame of your RV. (Place them near the front or rear axle.) This will help provide more stability.
  • Block the tires with wooden blocks
  • Stablize fifth wheel trailers using king pin stablizers
