Calgary RV dealer, Guarantee RV is pleased to bring you RV maintenance tips and tricks.  Whether you own a new or used motorhome, battery maintenance is something that is often overlooked.  Here are some things to consider to ensure long lasting life of the battery in your RV.

• if you will not be using the RV for an extended period of time disconnect the battery
• do not overcharge your battery
• do not charge frozen batteries
• keep the battery clean and free of corrosion and dirt
• monitor the battery cables for breaks and corrosion
• Visually inspect the terminals and cables at least once a year
• check the terminals for corrosion and dirt.  If they need cleaning, disconnect battery cables and clean with baking soda and water
• terminal posts can also be cleaned with baking soda and water solution
• ensure terminals are fitted tightly at the end of the cables
• monitor the batteries water level
• Keep the top of the battery clean of heavy dirt and oil with a cloth dampened by ammonia or a 50/50 solution of baking soda and water
